Happy Birthday Melvin B. Tolson!

I know I’m late, again. I should have had this post waiting for you this morning instead of posting at lunchtime. But I hope you will forgive me and join me in celebrating Melvin B. Tolson’s birthday today!

Let’s be proud of the poet who gave us “Dark Symphony,” “Harlem Gallery,” and “Libretto for the Republic of Liberia”. And the man who was the subject of the film  The Great Debaters although they never once mentioned he was a poet in the movie! Shame, shame.

Anyway, here’s a link on the Poetry Foundation website telling the story about this seriously brilliant man. Enjoy!
